Najeh Wilkins

Najeh Wilkins covers Georgia high school and college sports from the sideline, from the booth and from his own YouTube channel.

He came onto the SALTYmf GOAT Podcast through Rob Baca and Brinks TV, in the week of the Georgia high school football semifinals with Georgia and Alabama playing that Saturday. Brad Banyas read his resume out loud before letting him speak. Wilkins is a local. He went to Norcross High School and then Georgia State, and Banyas grew up down the road at North Springs in Sandy Springs, which is most of what the two of them talked about first.

His week starts on Sunday, planning the Tuesday show he co-hosts with Craig, which exists to put recognition on Georgia high school athletes nobody else is talking about. He writes four or five articles a week for Score Atlanta. He hosts a second show on Thursdays and brings on players from out of state for it. Friday nights are sideline reporting, and once basketball starts he calls games from the booth. He built the Score Atlanta YouTube channel himself, and the TikTok, so a parent can go back and watch last week's game instead of losing it. His favorite segment is the tale of the tape, where he runs film on a player who is not going to a power conference and gives him some exposure anyway.

The advice he gives is about what happens after the interview. Most people meet a player, take the quote they came for and disappear. Wilkins checks back in. He asks how school is going, brings them on the show to talk about their season, and by the time the kid is deciding where to sign he is somebody the kid actually talks to. He likes the underdogs, the group five and division two kids, and says they remember who covered them first.
