UltraViolet

UltraViolet is a four piece rock band out of New Jersey whose oldest member is 19.

They drove down for Salty's Live Music and played three songs in the McBastard Studios, one of them not released yet, before sitting down for the SALTYmf GOAT Podcast. Cooper's father drove the whole family the 14 hours from New Jersey without stopping once. The next night they were on at eight at Blackstrap in Gainesville. Their parents came in with them, which Brad pointed out is not how it usually goes with a rock band.

They call themselves all rock because no two of them listen to the same thing. Cooper wants 80s metal, Ashley came up on Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains through her dad, Miranda wants nu metal and hardcore, and Catherine grew up with Metallica and Nirvana in the house because her dad was a metalhead and her mother worked at MTV in the nineties. Catherine joined the Lake House academy in Asbury Park at 12. Ashley only picked up a guitar two years ago. Songs start when somebody brings a riff or a lyric to practice and they usually have something inside a day. Cooper judges his own drum parts by asking what would impress Steven Sweet and Rob Affuso. They played The Bitter End in New York in August and go back in November, and ran three dates in June through Connecticut, Massachusetts and home to Jersey.

The parents do the driving. Ashley's dad Mike handles the business side and makes every vlog on their channel. Miranda says she forgets at practice how young the others are, then watches Ashley play and cannot square it. A guy named Mark in one of the Carolinas bought a shirt and wore it to somebody else's concert. At Dingbatz, the venue they call home, a kid named Lewis turned up and told them he had come because he saw one of their podcasts.
