Griffin Baker
Griffin Baker runs projects and accounts at Open Heart Media, the agency that has shot this show since the first episode.
He has been on the other side of the camera for the SALTYmf GOAT Podcast for more than 120 episodes. A guest cancelled, so Banyas put him in the chair instead, which Baker said felt weird from that side of the table. Banyas has known him since he was about ten and claims him as a fourth son. Baker's first job out of college came from Banyas's own son, at Universal Roofing, and he says he had no idea what Banyas actually did for a living until three or four months before this conversation.
Open Heart Media was started by his father, Brad Baker, and Zach Sweat, out of the therapeutic space, as a video production company. It is going on year four and works as a marketing agency now, because clients with beautiful video still had websites nobody converted on. If you do not have a foundation, he says, money leaks through it. So he starts with an audit. He compares it to tearing off a roof, which he knows from construction, where you never find out what is underneath until it is off. He sets three, six, nine and twelve month goals with the client before anything gets bought. His objection to the agencies now selling AI built funnels is that they all put the same question to the same model and get the same plan back, with nothing to tell one from another.
Asked what he likes about the job, he names working with his father first. Getting to the age his parents were when they had him, he says, changes how he reads his own childhood. The second thing is the nonprofits. He cannot go into medicine, he hates blood, so this is the way he found to be useful to anybody. The foundation's salute and shoot is June 18, Father's Day weekend, outside Nashville.
